Artemisia arbuscula (Low Sagebrush) 250 seeds
Artemisia arbuscula, Low Sagebrush is our favorite garden/home variety along with Mountain Big. It's well mannered, smells nice and is xeric all similar to Mountain Big. The main difference will be overall size this grows much lower and smaller; therefore it will not attract as much wildlife, birds or provide as much food etc. This is a great border or meadow plant, and also tolerates slightly more xeric conditions than Mountain Big. Excellent weed suppression as with most of our native shrubs.
A low growing evergreen shrub that grows well from 5000' to 12,500' in rocky soils. Particularly liking mountain slopes, basins and ridges that receive 10-26 inches of annual precipitation. This shrub grows in drier locations than Big Sagebrush and higher areas with more moisture than Black Sagebrush prefers, you'll often find it mingling with Mountain Big Sagebrush. Usually in sterile, dry, and rocky locations where other plant life is slim.
8-16 in. tall. Hardy 4-10.
Surface broadcasting onto snow or soil in the Fall or Early Winter and then pressing down the seed into the soil produces the best results. If planting in cells and/or indoors, stratification of 60-90 days is recommended. Seedlings are easy to establish but don't tolerate root disturbance and might need some protection from predators (Deer).
