Oenothera flava v. flava (Yellow Evening Primrose) 30 Seeds
Yellow Evening Primrose aka Long-Tubed Evening Primrose, Oenothera flava is a lower growing primrose, up to 4 inches tall. It grows in areas that either receive more precipitation or are naturally carrying more moisture -- moist meadows, creek sides, floodplains etc. Often found in these areas on the edge of aspen-conifer or ponderosa forests in full sun.
Similar to tufted evening primrose in appearance, except it's smaller overall and has bright and cheery yellow flowers , which are also a bit smaller than tufted evening primrose. Usually blooms in June into August.
Perfect in the front of the garden or along a path where you want some low growing beauty. Excellent addition for pollinators and biodiversity as it blooms in the evening and attracts nocturnal pollinators like hummingbird moths, and bats.
Try in a woodland garden where there is a bit more sun and plant with Wasatch Penstemon, Whorled Buckwheat, Mtn Silver Sagebrush, and Stick Geranium.
Direct sow in the Autumn. If starting indoors, 90-120 days of stratification recommended.
