Purshia tridentata (Antelope Bitterbrush) 20 Seeds
Antelope Bitterbrush, Purshia tridentata is an exceptionally hardy shrub. Well-adapted to cold deserts, extreme heat, drought, mountainous winters, and more. It has a wide range in varied habitats. It's part of the rose family and is very similar to the Cliff Rose (Purshia stansburiana) but is a much smaller plant in comparison.
It's a slow growing, long lived evergreen shrub with lovely white and yellow flowers that attract a wide variety of pollinators in the Spring. It's commonly found in sun baked, dry cliff edges and hill faces, or in exposed sage steppe flats where wind and weather are oppressive. Though it can be found in sheltered canyons in common mountain-scrub communities as long as there aren't shrubs taller that shelter it from the sun. This plant loves exposure.
Xeric, important in restoration and reclamation, and erosion control, and can fit into about any home garden. Try planting with rabbitbrush and sagebrush to make tough and thick living fence that keeps neighbors and dogs at bay.
